NEW YORK STRENGTHENS WORKPLACE SAFETY FOR RETAIL WORKERS

In response to growing concerns about workplace violence, New York has passed the Retail Worker Safety Act. This new law places a significant responsibility on retail employers to proactively address and prevent incidents of violence in the workplace. The Act requires employers to develop and implement comprehensive programs designed to mitigate the risk of workplace violence and protect retail workers.

Retail employers must now take several key steps.

    1. Conduct a thorough risk assessment to identify potential vulnerabilities.
    2. Develop a comprehensive, written workplace violence prevention plan.
    3. Provide regular training to all employees on recognizing and responding to potential threats.
